What we do with your YouTube data
Transparency matters. This page explains exactly what YouTube data we access, how we use it, and what we will never do with it.
Read-only access
We only read your data. We never post, modify or delete anything on your channel.
Your data, your control
Revoke access at any time through your Google security settings.
Never sold
We never sell your data to third parties. Period.
What YouTube data we access
When you link your channel we request read-only access to:
Channel information
- Channel name, description, profile picture and banner
- Subscriber count, total views and creation date
Video metadata
- Titles, descriptions, thumbnails and publish dates
- Public engagement metrics (views, likes, comment counts)
Analytics (application only)
- Views, watch time, average view duration, subscribers gained and lost, likes and comments over the last 28, 90 and 365 days
- Your five most-viewed videos of the last 90 days
The application asks for youtube.readonly and yt-analytics.readonly so we can see the full current picture of your channel before we decide to work together. Client sign-in later requests only youtube.readonly.
How we use your data
- Channel research — compare your performance against similar channels and find growth opportunities
- Ideation — pair outlier formats with topics for your channel
- Your portal — show you your channel snapshot, tasks and progress
What we do NOT do
- Never post, upload or modify content on your channel
- Never access monetization information
- Never delete videos, comments or any data from your channel
- Never sell your personal data or channel data
- Never share your data with other clients
Read-only access explained
The permissions we request through Google OAuth are read-only. Our application can only view your data; it cannot make changes to your channel. This is enforced by Google at the API level.
Data retention
We keep your data while we work together. When you disconnect your channel or we end the engagement:
- Your YouTube data is deleted from our active systems within 30 days
- Backup copies are purged within 90 days
Revoking access
- Open your Google security settings
- Find "YT Galaxy" in the list of connected apps
- Click "Remove access"
Google API Services User Data Policy
YT Galaxy's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
